OSPI is expanding race and ethnicity values in CEDARS reporting requirements to align with the recommendations of the Race and Ethnicity Student Data Taskforce as established in SHB 1541. The new CEDARS requirements will add 200+ race/ethnicity codes. The race codes will roll into 20 sub-codes, which then roll into five categories. The 30 ethnicity codes will roll into two categories.

Districts have four years until they must fully implement the changes, and can continue to submit the original numeric codes (referenced in the CEDARS Data Manual Appendices Y and Z) until the end of the 2021-22 school year. Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, districts will be required to submit the new codes.

As a WSIPC district, you can rest assured that the new codes will be in place before the deadline. WSIPC will add the new codes in time to comply with the 2022-23 school year requirement.

WSIPC guarantees that we will always provide the solutions you need to be 100% compliant with all legislative data requirements.
