WSIPC - Proudly Supporting the Foundation for Academic Endeavors!
Jul 29, 19
On Tuesday, July 23rd, members of WSIPC attended an open house at the Foundation for Academic Endeavors (FAE) in Mount Vernon, WA to see first-hand the work they are doing for children in neighboring districts.
The mission of the FAE is to provide empowering educational experiences for under-served children and families, and to build a community that realizes its full potential supported by a network that encourages leadership and lifelong learning.
The FAE Summer Academy provides 5 weeks of fun and challenging summer learning for low-income children in our Skagit Valley communities. In partnership with Skagit Valley College and local school districts, children (from preschool through grade nine) receive transportation to and from the college campus, and two free meals each day.
Teens volunteer as classroom aides, cafeteria helpers, and bus monitors, and certified teachers and college fellows (who are studying to be teachers) incorporate literacy and reading into a curriculum based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Enrichment activities even include music, art, and field trips!

WSIPC supports the Foundation for Academic Endeavors by providing Skyward’s software to them at cost. Theresa Strain (who works on WSIPC’s Qmlativ Custom Reporting team) provides all support for the software, after hours as a volunteer.
On our recent visit we saw first-hand the great work this organization does on a daily basis for our local children, families, and communities.
