WSIPC Provides Free Access to Data Privacy and Interoperability Resources for ALL Washington State Schools!
Did you know that your WSIPC Cooperative provides Washington State Alliance access to ALL schools in Washington State, free of charge? Through the Washington State Alliance, all schools in Washington State (including public, private/independent, charter, and tribal schools) have access to Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) and Access For Learning Community (A4L) tools and resources.
The A4L Community is made up of educational policymakers, marketplace product and service providers, and the customers they serve, collaborating daily to address real-world learning information and privacy issues.
WSIPC is a founding member of the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC), a special interest group of the A4L Community, designed to address the day-to-day, multi-faceted issues faced when protecting learner information, by setting common expectations between market providers and end users.
Through the Washington State Alliance, all Washington State schools have access to the following, and more:
- SDPC Resource Registry – a framework for identifying solutions that have on-the-ground and real-world impact on student data privacy, enabling schools, districts, and vendors to find resources, adapt them to their unique requirements, and implement needed protections.
- National Data Privacy Agreement – a community developed agreement designed to streamline application contracting and set common expectations between schools and marketplace providers.
- National Research Data Privacy Agreement – a collaboratively built and standardized agreement for schools and research organizations to use for FERPA’s (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) research studies exception.
- SIF Certification Program – a program established to help ensure that data is successfully transferred between applications and that the transferred data successfully resides in all sharing applications, by using Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) Specifications – “enter once and use many times.”
